- ➤ Shelly Rentz was honored on Tuesday as the 2024 Workforce Partner of the Year at People with Disabilities Awareness Day held at the Oklahoma History Center. Her work with DRS Pre-Employment Transition Services helped run job training and summer programs for students with disabilities—boosting skills for future work. 1600 KUSH-AM
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Oklahoma State University Opera Theatre presents Hansel and Gretel at the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts in Stillwater on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 2:30 p.m. & the opera is divided into three acts with a 15-minute intermission and stars students from the Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music. - ➤ Oklahoma State University senior Ashton Slaughter earned a spot in the 65th annual Hearst National Writing Championships on June 6 in San Francisco—he will return for the second year after winning a $1,500 scholarship last summer. OSU
- ➤ OSU senior Isabel Nunes was named Delta Sigma Pi Regional Collegian of the Year at the South Central Provincial Conference on March 8—she will graduate in May with a bachelor's in management and information systems and plans to pursue a master’s in business analytics and data science. OSU
- ➤ Oklahoma State University students won nine awards at the Midwest Model UN conference held in St. Louis from Feb. 19 to 22 — they showed strong skills in diplomacy, research and leadership as they represented Ecuador and China. OSU

- ➤ Stillwater Police Department has named Christopher Hassig as the new Chief of Police, effective April 28, after a nationwide search - he brings over 18 years of experience from Houston Police and aims to strengthen community ties and improve officer morale. City of Stillwater
