CRIME NEWS

  • A 48-year-old ex-con from Stillwater pepper-sprayed a police officer during a Feb. 20 traffic stop and fled the scene—he is now held without bail pending a March 27 court appearance and faces drug charges with a trial set for April 15.  1600 KUSH-AM
  • A 48-year-old ex-convict from Stillwater with a criminal record spanning four counties was jailed without bail after pepper spraying a police officer at 3:54 p.m. on Feb. 20 during a traffic stop for suspected meth delivery and fleeing a residential area before being recaptured a week later—he will appear in court on March 27 and could face a life sentence if convicted.  Stillwater News Network

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Twelve Innovation Foundation employees were laid off by Oklahoma State University after an internal audit found legislatively appropriated funds were improperly sent to the foundation — the affected staff will remain employed until June 1 without severance, according to spokesperson Jeff Hopper.  Stillwater News Press

  • Stillwater and Perkins Emergency Management Departments have ordered evacuations near a wildfire in Logan County and are monitoring the fire — windy conditions with gusts over 40 mph may fuel its spread today.  Stillwater News Press
