EDUCATION NEWS

  • The OSU Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Studio Exchange Program on March 27, where OSU and UPC students worked together on a maritime museum design project (the program was founded in 1998 by former professor Charles Leider). The program helped students build skills in teamwork and communication as they completed research, design work, and project presentations (UPC students have visited Stillwater 20 times for the program).  OSU
  • OSU's Professional Development department started the Center for Transportation and Construction Workforce on March 27 to give training for jobs in road and building work. The center brings together three programs (Local Technical Assistance, Tribal Technical Assistance, Highway Construction Materials Technician) and will offer courses (designed to meet local, tribal, and road repair needs) to help workers learn new skills.  OSU
  • OSU has announced road closures and parking changes for the Boys From Oklahoma concert series at Boone Pickens Stadium, which will run April 10 to 13 and see about 43,000 concertgoers per day. Classes will continue on April 10 and 11 and students are advised to use the Rave Guardian app (if needed) as tailgating starts at 8 a.m. on those days.  The O'Colly
  • After former President Kayse Shrum resigned on Feb. 3, the Oklahoma A&M Board of Regents hired the D.C.-based Pinkston Group to provide crisis communications support — its leadership reportedly has close ties to Gov. Kevin Stitt. The board agreed to pay $10,000 per month for reputation management and consulting services — a move made amid concerns over the university's standing.  Stillwater News Press
