CRIME NEWS

  • A 25-year-old Cushing woman, Colista Ann Randall, faces an arrest warrant for allegedly fraudulently obtaining $8,899 in food stamps by falsely claiming four juveniles were in her household—three of whom were removed from her care two years ago and one who had not lived with her in years—and she could face a $5,000 fine and two years in prison if convicted.  Stillwater News Network

CULTURE NEWS

  • Prairie Arts Center will host the 2025 Stillwater Arts Festival on April 18—19 with support from the City of Stillwater, the Arts and Humanities Council, Visit Stillwater and Oklahoma State University. Director Meghan Brasuell said more than 50 regional artists will show works in media including ceramics, glass, fiber arts, metals, jewelry, photography, painting and drawing.  Stillwater News Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The College of Education and Human Sciences recognized 31 Seniors of Distinction for 2025—selected for leadership, academic excellence and service—from all its schools and departments. They will be honored with a reception on April 23.  OSU
  • Dr. DJ McMaughan, associate professor of public health in the College of Education and Human Sciences, received the 2025 President’s Fellows Faculty Research Award on March 26 during an annual researchers’ reception—his project examines how social drivers of health impact housing instability among disabled individuals and will be shared through plain language summaries, conference abstracts, and journal manuscripts. The $17,336 award will support his efforts to highlight systemic barriers that affect safe housing.  OSU
  • On April 3rd, OSU had 65 faculty honored on the Stanford/Elsevier Top 2% Scientists List—this list measures research impact through citation frequency—with faculty recognized from the Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Spears School of Business, Ferguson College of Agriculture, Engineering, Education and Human Sciences, Veterinary Medicine and the Office of the Vice President for Research.  OSU
  • The Stillwater Public Education Foundation launched the 2025 Most Valuable Pioneer Campaign on April 3rd to honor Stillwater Public Schools teachers and staff and to support students with special needs — funds will go to the SPS Special Services program.  Stillwater News Press
