CRIME NEWS

  • Stillwater police arrested Damon Eugene Thomas Sr. in Oklahoma City on Monday after investigating the fatal shooting of a man named Jerry Silas at 1815 N. Boomer, where officers arrived at 8:45 p.m. Saturday and Silas later died at the hospital.  1600 KUSH-AM
  • A Pawnee woman who pleaded guilty on April 1 for trafficking 18.35 grams of fentanyl and possessing methamphetamine was ordered into the About Face Women’s Program as part of a 20-year probation sentence and will remain in custody until transported Monday to start the 12-month treatment—designed to reduce criminal recidivism.  1600 KUSH-AM
  • A Stillwater man named Lance Magby admitted to selling cocaine and was arrested on Feb. 26 after a traffic stop led officers to find drugs and a firearm at his residence, and he now faces charges of trafficking 28 grams with a $100,000 bond pending a May 5 court appearance.  1600 KUSH-AM
  • Lance Dean Magby, a Stillwater man accused of trafficking about 28 grams of cocaine and possessing a firearm during a felony, was arrested on February 26 after a K9 detected drug odor during a seat belt stop and is held on a $100,000 bond pending a May 5 preliminary hearing—if convicted on all counts he faces up to a 31-year sentence and a $111,000 fine.  Stillwater News Network

  • Today the City of Stillwater proclaimed Red Dirt Music Week—marking an official designation that will pave the way for local music events throughout the week.  Stillwater News Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • OSU’s full-time MBA program in Spears Business jumped 18 spots to No. 58 in the U.S. News ranking on April 8 and remains the top MBA in Oklahoma. The school’s online bachelor’s program tied for No. 8 nationally and its master’s in business analytics program ranked second—leaders credit strong enrollment growth and new program initiatives.  OSU

  • Stillwater Regional Airport was named Airport of the Year—Director Kellie Reed was named Manager of the Year by the Oklahoma Airport Operators Association after an official announcement on April 1.  Stillwater News Press
  • Oklahoma State University confirmed that the federal government revoked the visas of eight international students. International Student Services checks visa records regularly to notify students of any changes.  Stillwater News Press
