COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Friends of the Stillwater Public Library will hold their annual spring used book sale from May 1 through May 4 at the Stillwater Community Center at 315 W. 8th Ave. Library Director Stacy DeLano said the sale will start with a preview night from 5–8 p.m. on May 1 with a $10 entry fee for non-members and continue with public hours on May 2 and 3 and a $1 bag sale on May 4—volunteers are needed on April 28 to help move books and on May 4 to clean up.  City of Stillwater

CRIME NEWS

  • The Payne County District Attorney’s Office filed criminal charges Wednesday for a fatal shooting when officers responded to an assault report on April 5 at N. Boomer Rd—Damon Eugene Thomas Sr., 37, of Stillwater is charged with first-degree manslaughter.  Stillwater News Press

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The federal government revoked international student visas and two public universities in Oklahoma confirmed the action—adding them to a growing list of affected institutions.  Stillwater News Press

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Wednesday, Oklahoma State men's tennis defeated Wichita State 4-0 in a match where victories in both singles and doubles marked a turnaround for the team. The Cowboys, now 9-13, will face UCF today before heading to the Big 12 Championships on April 16.  The O'Colly
  • After transferring from Iowa Western, OSU baseball player Brayden Davis struggled with consistency until he returned to his natural style with the Soto Shuffle (a move similar to Juan Soto's) that sparked a 17-game hitting streak.
