Good morning, Stillwater. Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 12th of April.

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Aaron Simons of Raven Rock Pizza left the oilfield after his trailer burned down and built two stands at Boone Pickens Stadium for a four-day concert series that is set to sell out with spots for about 45,000 people each night. He gathered local helpers and sourced items from Walmart + Sam's Club to meet the high demand of feeding up to a million people over the weekend.  The O'Colly

CULTURE NEWS

  • Mike Gundy hinted that a special guest might join the sold-out Boys From Oklahoma concerts and sparked local talk on who it could be — names like Wyatt Flores and Zach Bryan are being mentioned.  The O'Colly
  • The Boys from Oklahoma Concert drew over 40,000 fans to Stillwater on Thursday, and more visitors came Friday to relive memories and enjoy Red Dirt music. Attendees from as far as Columbia, Missouri and McCurtain County drove hours to see the event—showing its broad appeal.  Stillwater News Press
  • Josh Crutchmer, a local reporter who once worked as sports editor for The O’Colly, was inspired by a Stoney LaRue show at the Wormy Dog Saloon to dive into the Red Dirt music scene. He later interviewed local acts like Jason Boland and Turnpike Troubadours—capturing both surprise reunions and the deep impact of tragic moments that shaped music in Stillwater.  The O'Colly

EDUCATION NEWS

  • OSU’s AFROTC Detachment 670 sent 28 Flyin’ Cowboys last March to complete a 26.2-mile Bataan Memorial Death March at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico (the challenge required them to march in uniform carrying a 35-pound rucksack and a 4x4 piece of wood gifted to make the feat even harder) as they honored American and Filipino soldiers from World War II.  The O'Colly

SPORTS NEWS

  • OSU baseball player Brayden Smith has revived his signature Soto Shuffle as he rides a 17-game hitting streak while shifting roles in the lineup. His versatile approach gives him a unique edge on the field – a key factor as the Cowboys prepare for a three-game road series at Arizona.  The O'Colly
  • Oklahoma State baseball swept Kansas State five days ago but then lost to Oral Roberts because of four errors. Coach Josh Holliday said the team must boost pitching and defense—cutting self-inflicted mistakes—as they prepare for a three-game series at No. 24 Arizona in Tucson.  The O'Colly
  • Oklahoma State Cowgirls lost 5-4 in extra innings Friday at Cowgirl Stadium in the first game of a three-game series as they struggled to score (with seven runners left on base). Iowa State freshman Jessie Clemons got four hits (including a key double) that helped give her team the win while Ruby Meylan struck out 14.  The O'Colly
  • OSU Esports won the Big 12 Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Championship with a perfect 6-0 record by beating Houston in the final even after a Student Union basement flood cut their practice short. The team will now prepare for the College Esports Commissioners Cup from May 2-4 in Arlington and has become officially part of OSU Esports — a move that will boost both recruitment and future tournament scheduling.  The O'Colly
