EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Three OSU students are raising funds to travel to the US Embassy in Manila this spring to install an exhibit on Payne County residents who served in World War II + the project includes students from Stillwater, Ardmore and Antioch. Stillwater News Press
- ➤ OSU chemical engineering professor Clint Aichele and associate professor Prem Bikkina were named Faculty Fellows at the Hamm Institute for American Energy in Oklahoma City on April 24 and used the yearlong fellowship to lead advanced research and enhance education. They will develop proposals for federal agencies + work with industry leaders to address energy challenges and prepare students for future careers. OSU
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ OSU researchers are studying if summer legume cover crops can fix nitrogen in wheat fields to reduce fertilizer use for fall planting — the team is using chambers to capture greenhouse gas emissions and will host field days to demonstrate the research findings. OSU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, leaders from tech, energy, and academia met at Oklahoma State University’s Hamm Institute for American Energy for the Powering AI: Global Leadership Summit to review how to power artificial intelligence. U.S. cabinet members and energy experts discussed plans to use natural gas, nuclear, and geothermal power — ideas that may shape future energy policy — in a bid to keep America at the forefront of AI innovation. - ➤ OSU softball lost 1-0 to Texas on Wednesday night at Cowgirl Stadium as pitchers Ruby Meylan + RyLee Crandall used an analytical approach to hold the opponent to one run.
