- ➤ Between April 10 and April 13, over 200,000 people attended 'The Boys From Oklahoma' concerts at Boone Pickens Stadium, which boosted local sales at Eskimo Joe’s at 501 W. Elm Avenue and nearby Mexico Joe’s — businesses set up extra tents and staffing to handle the crowd while some students missed classes due to traffic disruptions. The O'Colly

- ➤ Teen artists in grades 5-12 will attend a free comic book workshop on May 10 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Prairie Arts Center. Participants will learn drawing techniques and receive a free comic book courtesy of Legendary Comics (registration is required due to limited spaces and supplies). City of Stillwater

- ➤ Oklahoma Gardening is hosting a contest for students ages 12 to 18 as part of its 50th anniversary celebration, inviting young gardeners to submit photos of their gardens. Entries received by May 30 will be judged—winners will get a prize and be featured on the show later this season. OSU
- ➤ Anthony AJ McNeal II was crowned Mr. OSU 2025 at Oklahoma State and became the first Black winner in the contest’s four-year history. He said his win will bring students together and help more of them try new leadership roles — support has grown from his friends and family. The O'Colly
- ➤ The OSU A&M Board of Regents appointed Dr. Jim Hess as OSU's 20th president on Friday, April 25 — ending his interim status and starting a three-year term — during a board meeting in Goodwell that showed strong support for his leadership. OSU
- ➤ OSU students are feeling burnout as the spring semester winds down and many use the Reboot Center for stress relief — a quiet space with massage chairs, stress cubes and tutoring help. Campus counselors say students need to take small breaks and ask for help if their stress grows too high. The O'Colly
- ➤ OSU-OKC student Danny M. Ellerd, who studies computer information systems, was named a 2025 Women for OSU Scholar with a prestigious scholarship awarded at the Women for OSU Symposium at Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater on April 24—he was honored for his strong grades and work helping others overcome addiction and homelessness. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ OSU-CHS Campus Security merged with the OSU Police Department in Stillwater on April 25 (under the leadership of Chief Michael Beckner and Captain Michael Galbraith) and now operates as part of the Tulsa Division to provide a unified police and security model across OSU campuses. OSU
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ At the Orange-White spring game, OSU wide receiver Sam Jackson V showed his speed with a punt return — turning a broken tackle into an 80-yard touchdown that gave the Cowboys an early lead. Coach Mike Gundy said the team will rely on quick transfers to boost explosive plays as they prepare to face UT-Martin on Aug. 28 — a game expected to set a positive tone for the season. The O'Colly
