EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Stillwater Public Library will launch its summer reading program on Tuesday, June 3 with a ventriloquist show called 'Prism Break' at the Community Center, featuring a special sensory-friendly performance at 4 p.m. + The program will also include Acting 101 for teens on Wednesday at 2 p.m., a family art trip to the Prairie Arts Center on Thursday from 10 a.m. to noon, and a session on raising chickens for adults on June 5 at 6 p.m.  City of Stillwater
  • OSU and ODOT are expanding their long-time partnership with a new $10 million construction center on campus named after Gary Ridley — the project will give more space for ODOT employees and student engineers. Construction will begin in early winter and take two years to complete — students will gain practical experience with highway material testing and research.  OSU
  • OSU announced changes to its travel policies that require faculty to book economy-class tickets + receive pre-approval from vice presidents or the Office of the President for international trips, with domestic travel continuing under the Office of the President. The updated policies are in effect immediately to support fiscal responsibility following a recent internal audit.  The O'Colly
  • Oklahoma State University College of Arts and Sciences students Jacob Long and Crissy Villasmil-Velasco were named Beckman Scholars for the 2025-26 school year, earning a $21,000 award plus research mentorship and leadership training from the program starting this summer; Long will study iron sulfide nanoparticles with Dr. Yolanda Vasquez while Villasmil-Velasco will work with Dr. Erika Lutter to investigate the Pseudomonas aeruginosa pathogen.  OSU

  • Oklahoma lawmakers overturned the governor’s veto on a bill that expands access to mammograms for early breast cancer detection — a decision that earned the House a standing ovation on Thursday.  Stillwater News Press

  • A report on Stillwater student housing compares apartment options on cost, amenities, and parking to help students choose where to live.
