CULTURE NEWS

  • Students and faculty at OSU Museum of Art have curated an exhibition called Community, Creativity, and Continuity: Native American Art in Everyday Life that shows art from the 1940s to the 1990s and explains Native traditions in daily life. The exhibit is on view until August 23 and includes paintings and textiles that blend history and modern art — inviting visitors to see how tradition lives on.  The O'Colly

EDUCATION NEWS

  • OSU student Zander Silva returned to Stillwater after touring with Cam Allen Music to focus on earning his diploma as a double major in management information systems and entrepreneurship. The musician plans to graduate in May 2026 and pursue a role in tech + business while keeping his passion for music alive.  OSU
  • Ashton Slaughter—former Editor-in-Chief of The O’Colly at Oklahoma State and an Owasso native—earned second place at the 65th Hearst National Journalism Championships in San Francisco and won a $7,500 reward among 1,260 finalists.  The O'Colly
  • Oklahoma State’s Student Union Activities Board canceled its first planned Summer on the Plaza event because of weather but will hold it every Thursday in June with live music by Mason Lough on June 12 + family activities and food from the university. Community partners such as Stillwater Public School's Book Bus and Pete's Pet Posse will join if weather permits.  The O'Colly
  • The Stillwater Public Library’s summer reading program will offer a glow show for kids on Tuesday at the local community center, a teen sugar cookie and cupcake decorating contest on Wednesday, a book crafting session for adults later Wednesday at the Prairie Arts Center, and a field trip with playground activities on Thursday at Southern Woods Park. The library will provide sensory support items for children and local bakeries will reward teen winners — with program costs and prizes funded by Friends of the Library and other local partners.  City of Stillwater
