- ➤ On June 9th, The Great Divide released a new single called 'Yesterday Road' recorded live at the Boys From Oklahoma concert series in Stillwater. The band, which had a streak of five #1 singles off the album Providence and was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame during the event, drew a record crowd of 180,000—marking a historic moment in Red Dirt music. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ OSU began demolishing its former power plant built in 1948 on Tuesday, June 10, to clear the site for future campus development. The demolition will finish by the end of summer — the cleared area will be kept as green space until a final plan is made. OSU
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Chickasaw Nation hired former OSU president Dr. Kayse Shrum as its chief health strategy officer on Monday. Shrum, who served as dean of the OSU College of Medicine (and president of the OSU Center for Health Sciences) and was in Gov. Kevin Stitt’s cabinet (as Secretary of Science and Innovation), will begin leading the Nation's health initiatives. Stillwater News Press
