EDUCATION NEWS

  • Yesterday, Dr. Jeffrey White—professor and BP Chair at Oklahoma State University—was awarded the 2025 Great Plains Catalysis Society Research Award for his work in catalysis research and education. He said he will continue developing industrial and environmental applications and encouraged students to follow their curiosity.  OSU
  • Yesterday, Shawn Allen, a Ph.D. student at Oklahoma State University, was recognized at the ACSM National Conference in Atlanta for his research on the benefits of progressive resistance training for older adults. He received the Raymond A. Weiss Research Grant and a travel award—honors that underline his commitment to research and mentoring.  OSU

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The National Weather Service has extended a Flood Warning until early Saturday morning for the Cimarron River near Ripley in Payne County—water is expected to crest at 19.9 feet early tomorrow afternoon before falling below flood stage Friday evening. A Flood Advisory remains for the Cimarron River near Guthrie affecting Logan and Payne Counties with low-lying areas at risk of isolation.  Stillwater News Press

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City officials in Stillwater say homeowners, renters and residents affected by the March wildfires should apply for federal assistance through FEMA and the SBA—even those with insurance—as noted in a city news release.  Stillwater News Press
  • Payne County officials will host a public meeting at 6 p.m. June 26 at the Cushing Fire Department at 211 W. Main St.—residents are asked to fill out a 6-minute survey to update a disaster action plan for better hazard mitigation during emergencies.  Stillwater News Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • On June 18th, OSU veterinarians at the Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital treated two 7-month-old wether goats—Last Chance and Tower—for a five-day illness with loss of appetite, diarrhea and high liver values; they quickly administered atropine and arranged for 2-PAM when they suspected poisoning from a lice treatment, and Last Chance improved soon after.  OSU
