COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Families gathered at Boomer Lake yesterday for the 31st Annual Boomer Blast despite a rainy Fourth of July morning — the event featured good food, laughter, and bright fireworks lighting up the sky.  Stillwater News Press
  • The Stillwater Public Library reopened its main building on July 5 after a six-month construction project that upgraded its fire suppression system by moving materials from the north building during the 4th of July holiday. Staff and volunteers are still working to restore full services—computers are rebooting, the fax machine is out, and some meeting rooms remain closed.  The O'Colly

EDUCATION NEWS

  • School districts are drafting new policies today for the upcoming school year that will ban cell phones, smart watches, smart headphones, laptops, tablets and smart glasses from bell to bell — a law signed by Gov. Kevin Stitt in May after two years of debate.  Stillwater News Press

HEALTH NEWS

  • OSU Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital reported that lumpy jaw is a long-lasting cattle infection caused by Actinomyces bovis that enters through small mouth injuries from rough feed or sharp plants. The report said cattle show a hard swelling on the lower jaw (which may later drain pus) and early treatment can stop further damage.  OSU
