EDUCATION NEWS

  • Stillwater Public Library is hosting a series of fun and educational events before summer reading ends on July 25. Children will enjoy a magic show on July 15 at Stillwater Community Center with showtimes at 10 a.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., teens will join a slime-making workshop on July 16 at Stillwater Armory, families will attend a field trip and an art history talk on July 17,—and all community members will gather for Crowns Tea on July 19 at 11 a.m.  City of Stillwater
  • Oklahoma State University announced a $2 million gift to its College of Veterinary Medicine on July 10th—establishing the James and Elizabeth Wise Endowed Chair of Veterinary Ophthalmology to boost research and education. OSU alumnus and Stillwater native Dr. James Wise was inspired after his rescued cat received lifesaving treatment at the university’s veterinary hospital.  OSU

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Heartland Flyer passenger rail service between Oklahoma City and Fort Worth will continue for at least another year after a Texas group agreed to contribute millions to keep the route running—alongside a flood watch in effect from midnight tonight through Sunday evening as heavy rains are forecast for parts of Oklahoma and northern Texas.  Stillwater News Press
