CRIME NEWS

  • On Sunday, video showed two men breaking an 8-foot wooden Pistol Pete statue from its tree stump in front of Sigma Alpha Epsilon near 1300 W. 3rd St., loading it into a silver GMC pickup—Stillwater Police say the statue had been previously vandalized in September and they are seeking public help to identify the suspects.  The O'Colly

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Jason Harmon took over as head of the OSU Department of Natural Resource Ecology and Management on July 15—bringing 16 years of leadership experience from North Dakota State University as he promised to support students, faculty and staff in tackling natural resource challenges.  OSU
  • At OSU, five Niblack Scholars are finishing a three-semester research project and will present their findings in October. The program gives students funding, mentor support, and lab time—helping them choose a future career path.  OSU
  • Oklahoma State University launched the Horizon Scholars Program on Tuesday, July 15—with support from 12 alumni families and $12M in donations—to provide incoming freshmen with a four-year renewable award that includes a $7,500 annual scholarship, one-time study abroad and internship stipends, and mentorship opportunities, with enrollment set to begin fall 2026.  OSU
