EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Oklahoma State University launched the Horizon Scholars program today with support from 12 Cowboy alumni families to offer incoming freshmen renewable, four-year scholarships and a tailored curriculum—featuring internships, study abroad options, and mentorship with President Jim Hess. - ➤ Students from across the country presented summer research in Agricultural Hall on July 24 at Oklahoma State University—projects ranged from public health to plant science. The symposium, hosted by the Office of Undergraduate Research, allowed students to share findings from faculty-mentored work that addressed issues like water safety and environmental sustainability. - ➤ OSU-CHS Ph.D. student Abdullah Gohar led a study that used CT scans of two prehistoric whale skull fossils from Egypt to show that these ancient whales grew large brains while still keeping a strong sense of smell—indicating that brain enlargement began before they became fully aquatic. He will continue his research and share his findings with future students after he completes his degree. OSU
