EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Oklahoma State University joined the Google AI for Education Accelerator on Monday to give students, faculty and staff free access to Google Career Certificates and AI training—tools designed to help them prepare for future jobs. The university also will support workforce development through its Polytech programs that train skilled electricians for advanced data centers in Pryor and Stillwater. OSU
- ➤ OSU secured the bid to host the International Physicists’ Tournament in May 2026 and will welcome about 200 faculty and students from 21 universities worldwide to Stillwater. The OSU Department of Physics is fundraising—through individual and corporate sponsors—to keep participant costs low and boost international recognition. OSU
- ➤ OSU began the fall semester on Monday with classes and a picture session on Library Lawn, and welcome week events have started to bring students together after summer break. The schedule will continue later this week with SUAB Night, a soccer opener, a convocation and Rock the Block—featuring mental health resources—planned to boost campus spirit. OSU
- ➤ Stillwater Public Schools presented on Aug 12 a plan to update athletics facilities at the high school campus—this plan calls for demolishing some buildings, renovating others, and constructing new ones as recommended by the Long Range Facilities Planning Committee, with details given by Assistant Superintendent Bo Gamble. - ➤ OSU's Spears School of Business started the school year Monday with record enrollment of 6,670 students, including a freshman class of 1,047—the highest total in its 111-year history. The school also reported high national rankings for its online MBA and MS BAnDS programs, reinforcing its focus on quality education. OSU
- ➤ OSU Fire Service Training built a new three-story burn building on August 18th to better simulate real fire conditions—allowing trainees to practice techniques such as rappel and Vent-Enter-Search in one facility. The structure, a collaborative effort with CEAT, the Federal Emergency Management Association, and WHP Training Towers, is the first new burn building since 1994 and will enhance training opportunities. - ➤ Today, Oklahoma State is launching Cowboys Care—led by First Cowgirl Angela Hess—to give students easy access to counseling, health services, wellness programs and virtual support for managing stress.
