- ➤ At Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater, nearly 200,000 fans attended four concert nights in April as Cross Canadian Ragweed returned for its first show in 15 years as part of the Boys From Oklahoma series—after the set, the band leaders hinted they will come back next April. The O'Colly
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Brighter Future program helps high school students prepare for life after graduation by teaching time management, career planning, and college readiness; it launched Monday, August 25th and will be available online this fall—students across Oklahoma will use OSU Extension 4-H support to plan for college, work, or other paths. The program provides hands-on guidance that matches each student’s interests and future goals. OSU
- ➤ Dr. Ramesh Sharda, a Regents Professor at Spears School of Business, won the AMCIS 2025 Outstanding Conference Service Leadership Award—recognizing his significant service to professional organizations—and accepted it on August 25 in Montreal before returning to OSU for the fall semester. OSU

- ➤ The Grand River Dam Authority is urging boaters to wear life jackets and avoid alcohol this Labor Day weekend—Coast Guard data from 2024 shows that 87% of those who drowned were not wearing a life jacket and alcohol contributed to 20% of fatal incidents. Stillwater News Press
- ➤ The City of Stillwater officially opened Fire Station No.2 on Western Road— a modern facility with a dispatch center, drive-through bay and private sleeping quarters that improve response times for campus and community emergencies.
