CRIME NEWS

  • Payne County District Attorney’s Office charged Jarrett Christopher Small, 34, with domestic assault and battery by strangulation, firearm possession after a prior felony, and assault against a pregnant woman during a fight near the 2000 block of Jacqueline Terrace.  Stillwater News Press
  • The Gamma-Psi chapter of Kappa Sigma was removed from campus after an investigation into alleged hazing and alcohol misuse—its charter was pulled after 105 years and its historic home at 1401 W. University Ave is now leased to Phi Kappa Phi Properties Gamma Upsilon for four years until the chapter can reapply for recolonization.  The O'Colly

ECONOMY NEWS

  • OSU Extension, the Oklahoma Pecan Growers Association and Frazier Pecans will host a free Fall Pecan Field Day on Sept. 25 near Bixby to offer education on tree spacing, soil testing and insect management, and participants must register by Sept. 19 to secure a free lunch provided by Oklahoma AgCredit — key for improving growers' return on investment.  OSU

EDUCATION NEWS

  • OSU marketing and communications professionals received more than 70 awards at the OCPRA annual conference this summer—submissions exceeded 600 entries from 23 universities. Megan Horton said the honors recognized excellence in areas like branding, content, and social media, supporting OSU’s mission to attract top talent.  OSU
  • Two OSU researchers, Dr. Sri Ramesh and Dr. Ranji Vaidyanathan, have received a National Science Foundation award to launch a Research Experiences for Undergraduates program that will run each summer from 2026 through 2028—offering hands-on research in advanced manufacturing and cybersecurity. The program, which will host ten students, will give participants real-world experience with OSU faculty—building skills for careers in high-tech industries.  OSU

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Between July 1 and June 30, Oklahomans chose from over 300 specialty license plates and more than 12,000 people picked the In God We Trust plate—surpassing the OSU and OU designs that sold about 11,000 and 8,700 units respectively.  OSU

SPORTS NEWS

  • Oklahoma State began its 2025 season with a 27-7 win over UT Martin on Thursday night. Rookie Wendell Gregory earned three sacks + helped the Cowboys set a strong tone as Kalib Hicks and Terrill Davis made key plays.  The O'Colly
  • In Boone Pickens Stadium, OSU defeated UT Martin 27-7 after Hejny threw a 41-yard pass to Rigby for a key first down—giving the Cowboys a 14-point cushion before Hejny left with a leg injury. Fans cheered the play and now await updates on his recovery.  The O'Colly
