EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Oklahoma State University celebrated the closing of the four-week Primavera Oaxaqueña program that brought pre-service teachers from Oaxaca to Stillwater—where they received academic training, hands-on workshops and cultural exchange to enhance their ESL teaching skills. The program helped the teachers gain valuable global teaching experience. Stillwater News Press
- ➤ Dr. Joshua Li, an associate professor at Oklahoma State University, led a research project that evaluated rural readiness for autonomous vehicles using 3D sensors and network tests — and he received $60,000 earlier this year to study roadway conditions and communication systems with Dr. Anirudh Paranjothi. The team will meet with local transportation agencies to offer recommendations for improving infrastructure and safety. OSU
- ➤ High school senior Kate Wardlaw, a 4-H state ambassador, participated in the Poultry, Pigeons and Rabbits Show at the Payne County Free Fair today and surprised herself by showing her rooster Nugget while learning new skills in animal care. Stillwater News Press
- ➤ Lucas Elwell, vice president at MidFirst Bank, will receive one of three Spears Business Outstanding Young Alumni Awards on Oct. 10 at the ConocoPhillips OSU Alumni Center—an honor that shows his commitment to helping OSU students through scholarships and mentoring. He earned his MBA at OSU during the recession and now gives back to the school by guiding students and supporting their success. OSU

- ➤ Attorney General Gentner Drummond sent two letters on Sept 2 urging Governor Stitt and OHFA board chair Michael Buhl to remove appointees over alleged DEI practices that discriminated against white, Asian, Pacific Islander and heterosexual homeowners—practices that are central to a federal lawsuit and detailed on the agency’s website.
