- ➤ The Robert M. Kerr Food and Agricultural Products Center at Oklahoma State University is offering fall workshops to help food processors, entrepreneurs and growers learn key certifications and food safety practices — courses run from Sept. 30 through Nov. 20. - ➤ Oklahoma State University’s Fire Service Training program hosted the 2025 Oklahoma Swiftwater Rescue Conference & Competition at RiverSport OKC on Wednesday, September 3. The event gave first responders hands-on rescue training in flash flood techniques—recording participants from 11 states and international experts while showcasing the Higgins and Langley Awards. OSU
- ➤ Chris and Nicole Neil, full-time professionals and OSU MBA students from Tulsa, completed a 10-day CAGLE study abroad program in Central Europe—visiting Vienna, Bratislava, and Budapest to tour historic sites and deliver business presentations under the guidance of MBA director Dr. Matt Bowler. They balanced work, family, and school by planning study sessions after their children went to bed following their 10th anniversary celebration in May. OSU
- ➤ Oklahoma State University launched its first Office of Postdoctoral Affairs on September 3rd to support researchers and their faculty mentors by providing resources, career development, and a sense of community. The office was established after a 2024 survey showed many postdocs felt isolated and unmentored — an effort to boost OSU's research mission. OSU
- ➤ During the first quarter of 2025, OSU Extension empowered communities with hands-on learning and youth leadership projects statewide—4-H educators and agriculture specialists offered programs in science, technical skills, and service projects that built practical know-how and local partnerships. - ➤ Oklahoma State University professor Dr. Neil Gilbert co-authored a study showing that birds in bright areas start singing 18 minutes earlier and finish 32 minutes later than birds in dark areas—data from over 4 million bird sounds supports the findings published on Aug. 21 in Science. The research suggests that reducing artificial light may help birds get the rest they need. OSU

- ➤ Oklahoma State University’s public health program offers two degree paths—exercise and health or community health—that mix classroom work, hands-on research, and a 400-hour internship to prepare students for real careers.
