- ➤ Fort Worth-based AmeriBand is developing the AspireCVD engine that uses a wobble plate to adjust displacement and may be 50% smaller, 50% lighter and improve fuel efficiency by over 60% when built. The company, which has secured six patents and is collaborating with Oklahoma State, said the Army is interested but real tests are needed—no physical engine exists yet. OSU

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The OSU Mortar Board Honor Society announced its Top 20 freshmen men and Top 20 freshmen women list that includes nine students from the College of Education and Human Sciences — interviews for the Top 10 will be held Sunday, Sept. 14 with decisions coming on Monday and Tuesday. OSU
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Conservation groups appealed a Texas court decision that reduced Endangered Species Act protection for the lesser prairie chicken, a near-flightless bird found in Eastern New Mexico and four other states—federal officials had designated its southern population as endangered and its northern population as threatened in 2022.
