EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Rannock Thomas used his early experiments with popsicle sticks to spark a lifelong passion for engineering, studying at CEAT in Stillwater and later leading the Speedfest team before joining Aurora Flight Sciences as an electrical power systems engineer—his journey shows how curiosity and hands-on research can shape a career. His path included internships, research projects, and real-world challenges while he learned by doing in both labs and team settings. OSU
- ➤ OSU’s College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology hosted the Senior Design Expo on October 2 where CEAT seniors showed their capstone projects that solve real challenges—helping them gain hands-on skills through partnerships with local companies like National Standard. OSU
- ➤ Stillwater teens in grades six through 12 are invited to a literary escape room at the library on Oct. 16th from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.—participants will solve clues about famous villains and enjoy complimentary pizza. Registration is required due to limited space. City of Stillwater
- ➤ Nila Pradhananga was named OSU Extension’s state specialist for food and nutrition security and she will work statewide to improve food access and balanced diets. She is an assistant professor in Nutritional Sciences and will use her experience from Nepal and projects in Louisiana — helping local residents overcome barriers to healthy eating. OSU
- ➤ Aubrey Fudge, an OSU mechatronics and robotics major from Oklahoma City, co-founded Lingua—a video game–styled language learning platform—and helped bring TEDx back to campus. She secured funding for the project and advanced her work on innovative solutions to improve education. OSU
- ➤ The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology expanded its campus this fall with over 140,000 square feet of lab space and nearly 100 new offices—graduate work areas have grown to 9,000 square feet. Enrollment and research funding have also increased steadily. OSU
- ➤ Mary Davey donated $500,000 in honor of her late brother Bob Lembcke to support OSU’s Bullet Racing team, which designs and builds formula-style race cars. The gift will cover travel, equipment and a larger shop space—ensuring students learn and compete in future events. OSU
- ➤ The College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology K-12 STEM team delivers statewide STEM programs—growing from 6,565 students in 2022 to 21,648 in 2024 through camps, science fairs, and STEM nights. The team will launch an ambassador program next summer to train older students to teach STEM activities in their communities. OSU
- ➤ Oklahoma State University hosted its second annual Land-grant Week on Oct 2nd to highlight its mission in research, education and Extension on campus — groups presented hands-on demonstrations and giveaways while the Aerospace Institute used drone technology to support simulated first responder activities. OSU
- ➤ On October 2nd, the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology named Camden McDonald, Piper Swain and Austin Wallick as top scholarship award recipients. McDonald received the Boys and Girls Scholarship with $15,000 annually for engineering study while Swain and Wallick were awarded the W.W. Allen Scholarship providing $10,000 a year with full tuition and housing for a masters degree at Cambridge—recognizing their future leadership in the field. OSU
- ➤ CEAT staff are driving student success through hands-on lab training and study abroad programs. Lab manager Wendy Hall and FPSET Lab manager Ryan Szirmay mentor hundreds of students every year—building practical skills and confidence for the future. OSU
- ➤ OSU announced five new school heads for its College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology yesterday, each bringing diverse backgrounds to lead schools created under the 6G initiative. The new leaders—Dr. Heather Yates, Dr. James Smay, Professor Nathan Richardson, Dr. Guoliang Fan, and Dr. Rasim Guldiken—aim to boost national recognition and strengthen faculty collaboration. OSU
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ ParaNano Wound Care, an Oklahoma firm using nanotechnology, has developed a bandage called WoundCue that changes from yellow to green to signal rising bacterial levels in chronic wounds—this breakthrough is moving into a clinical study funded by a Blue Knight QuickFire Challenge award and will launch later this year. The product is expected to be available to health care providers in 2026 as it aims to help detect infections early. OSU
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Sivan Auerbach, a 2025 CEAT graduate with a 4.0 GPA—who earned two majors and multiple track titles—left OSU to pursue a master’s at Virginia Tech and will try to become Israel’s first Olympian in the 1,500 meters at the 2028 Olympics. OSU
