EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ OSU launched a $2 billion campaign to support renewable scholarships, campus upgrades and athletic programs, and it awarded its first Code Calls Scholarship to junior Lizzie Cowan on Thursday (she needed a new funding boost as her previous support was ending in spring). - ➤ Oklahoma State University launched its $2 billion campaign The Code Calls on November 13th at The McKnight Center for the Performing Arts—featuring the Cowboy Marching Band and Spirit Squad—to raise funds for scholarships, research, and student support. OSU President Jim Hess and campaign leaders urged alumni, donors, and students to invest in a future defined by character and opportunity as the initiative runs through 2030. OSU
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ OSU started a five-year project funded by a USDA grant on November 13th to create water-smart production systems for the Ogallala Aquifer. The project brings researchers together—using satellite data to study groundwater policies and help local producers use smarter irrigation methods for long-term sustainability. OSU
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ OSU's Spears Business faculty created a patent-pending AI tool that uses 10 biomarkers to predict diabetic retinopathy risk and it will soon be pilot tested in rural clinics—helping primary care providers catch the risk early and guide timely treatment. OSU
